  1. Cookies

Cookies help to make visiting our website simpler, more convenient, and more purposeful in a variety of aspects. Cookies are alphanumeric information files stored automatically by the web browser on the hard drive of the computer from where our Internet site is visited.

Cookies neither damage the hard drive of the computer nor does the storage of cookies forward personal data to us.

For instance we store cookies to determine user preferences, visited pages, as well as activities on our website, and to improve the services and content we offer on the basis of internal statistics. The use does not result in us receiving new personal data about you as an online visitor. Most Internet browsers accept cookies automatically. However, you can configure your browser to prevent cookies from being stored on your computer, or to have a notice displayed when you receive a new cookie.

Deactivating cookies can have the result that you are not able to use all functions on our website.

  1. Web analysis services

We use web analysis services for purposes of user-friendly design and ongoing optimization of our pages. Anonymized user profiles are created and cookies are used in connection with this (refer to Section 3). The information created by the cookies about the use of this website, such as:

    • used computer type;

    • browser type/version;

    • the employed operating system;

    • referrer URL (previously visited page);

    • hostname of the accessing computer (IP address);

    • time of the server request;

    • usage behavior on the website (use of Web beacons as required);

    are transmitted to the server and stored there. The information is used to analyze the use of the website, to compile reports about web site activities, to render and determine services connected with the website use and Internet use for purposes of market research and user-friendly design of these webpages, how many users refer to the offers from our sponsors and partners, and to record the use of email offers and newsletters. This information may also be forwarded to others when this is required by law or when others process the data on a contract basis.

    Under no circumstances is the IP address associated with other data related to the user. IP addresses are anonymized, therefore preventing an association (IP masking).

    The user can prevent the installation of cookies with an appropriate setting in the browser software (refer to Section 3); however, please note that in this case not all functions on this website may be fully available.

    The user can at any time deny the creation of use profiles. Click here for additional information.

    1. Social plug-ins

    Our Internet pages use social plug-ins from Facebook. These are services provided by the US-based corporation Facebook Inc. (1601 S. California Ave, Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA). We use the "LIKE" or "SHARE" button that are integrated with the so-called double click solution.

    This means that we integrate the named buttons in their deactivated state. This means that the buttons do not yet establish contact with Facebook servers when our pages are retrieved. The button becomes active and therefore establishes a connection with Facebook only when the user activates the respective button and therefore declares his agreement to communicate with Facebook. The user can then transmit his recommendations with a second click.

    After activating the button, Facebook receives the information that the user's browser has retrieved the corresponding page from our website, even when the user does not have a Facebook account, or is presently not logged into Facebook. This information (including the IP address) is transferred by the user's browser directly to a Facebook server in the United States, and stored there.

    If the user is logged into Facebook, Facebook can directly associate the visit to our website with the Facebook account. When the user interacts with the plug-ins, for instance by pressing the "LIKE" or "SHARE" button, the associated information is also transferred directly to a Facebook server, and stored there. The information is also published on Facebook and displayed to the user's Facebook friends.

    Facebook can use this information for advertising and market research purposes, and for user-friendly design of Facebook pages. For this purpose, Facebook creates usage, interest, and relationship profiles to analyze use of our website with respect to the advertising displayed to the user on Facebook, to inform other Facebook users about his activities on our website, and to render additional services in connection with the use of Facebook.

    If the user does not want Facebook to associate the data collected about our website to his Facebook account, the user will need to log out from Facebook before activating the button.

    The purpose and scope of the data collection and the additional processing and use of data by Facebook, as well as the associated rights and data entry options for purposes of protecting the private sphere of the user can be found in the [Facebook data protection notices].

    The user can permanently activate the button by checking the appropriate box under the gear icon. The selected button is then always directly activated when the website is retrieved.
